Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

Absolutely, and I have the most wonderful playmates!

We’re a very silly family. There’s a lot of dancing (too much), rapping badly, singing, wrestling, and serious pranking that goes on in the Alcina home.

It’s a side of me that I am a little more protective of as I get older. I’ve found that you can’t just cut loose with the world or just anyone. People are too sensitive and easily offended by everything. My husband and I are both REALLY ridiculous and it’s made for a very fun marriage. I honestly contribute that to a lot of the reason we don’t fight very often. I think we can both laugh things off so easily. Our kids are that way too for the most part. Norah Harper probably has the hardest time letting something go. She doesn’t get over things quite as quickly, and she’s by far the most sensitive. I love that about her though.

My mother was always silly in a very quiet and kind of shy way. Gary knew that side of her and I’m so glad he got to. It made her such a good Mom. She was always very involved and made things not only nice, but genuinely fun.

Recently I’ve started throwing clay and making pottery.. that’s been a source of a lot of fun and a wonderful way to unwind and relieve stress. Painting and art comes and goes for me.. but thankfully being able to play only requires the company of other playful people. 🤍🤍🤍
