Well, he did it.

Gary managed to surprise me without me having ANY idea. He told me he was going to Truck and Tractor Supply but he was actually meeting a Dachshund Breeder in Pensacola. This is Rusty! Not sure if that name will stick, we’re still on the fence, but he’s the sweetest baby!!

Boy Moms!

I wanted to share because these are the best T-Shirts. Gary gets the Polo 4D flex tees at Kohls, but Amazon has them for Boys and they’re priced really well! 3 for 24$! Grab them here. I also ordered this cute bomber jacket for Gage and it was just 30$. It’s perfect for our climate…

Ok then FB 🤗

Facebook banned my account last night, but I’ve gotta say… I’m actually kinda glad!! I had over 800 friends and most of them are just acquaintances, so I hardly ever see my family and close friend’s posts. Btw.. Don’t panic if it ever happens to you. You can still download ALL your posts, photos etc.…

I hope this will make you stop caring about what that troll says about you from now on. Babe, you actually look like your photos. You’re beautiful. She is delusional and remember this whenever anyone on the internet starts insulting your appearance. They probably just hate themselves! And I might be bias but I think you’re much prettier in person than in photos.

Wow…
AI is REALLY getting kinda creepy. I saw a few videos today that were so real it scrambled my head for a minute. Most of the Sora videos are pretty stupid, but these were videos that were giving false information about illnesses and that’s scary as hell. It’s pretty creepy and it’s changing and advancing…

What?

Candace Owens saying ppl should withhold voting until we know more about Charlie Kirk’s death is exactly why I have so much trouble understanding her position. Charlie’s main objective outside of his faith was trying to make young people vote and express to them how important it was to not be lazy about politics because…

Bovine Colostrum
Gary and I started on this today. I’ve heard amazing things about it. It’s helps cell growth, the immune system and fights inflammation. Can’t hurt to try it! I’ll let you guys know what I think after taking it a few weeks. 🙂

Gratitude
Do you ever sit back and feel overwhelmed by all the good things in your life? I know I probably take things for granted at times, but I am fully aware of how incredibly blessed I am. I don’t have to pretend. I don’t have to be a phony. I’m genuinely in love with my…

Oh nooooooo….
I think Gage and I have the flu, or maybe Covid? High fevers, and just SICK. I’m gonna try to hibernate and sleep it off. Thank goodness Gary is home until Thursday. 😩😭 I guess I’d rather get it now than during Fall Break. 😤

Day Date 🫶🏼

We had such a great day today! Gary asked me if I wanted to do some early Christmas shopping and eat lunch. Um, YES. We love La Hacienda, so we indulged! Tomorrow will be 15 years that we’ve been together. ❤️ It’s not our wedding anniversary, just when we started dating. Time flies but they…

What does it mean to be a kid at heart? Being a kid at heart isn’t about pretending you’re younger than you are or trying to stay young and relevant. It’s about carrying that light inside you that never really fades. It’s a balance, because without maturity, you can’t survive on those kid-like instincts very…

You’re a nicer person than I am because I’d put that Gru looking hunchback on blast. All the times she’s made fun of you when you’ve posted photos of yourself and she looks like a walking troll doll. I’d post every picture if I was you. Hell I will if she ever makes another dig at you. Bet ?! Nasty woman.

Let’s Get it!!!

It’s a new week! Happy Monday! Gary worked overnight last night, so the kids slept with me, and it was so nice. I love it when they’re able to do that. We fell asleep watching Monster House. We had some bad storms move through last night with a few tornadoes on the ground. We lost…

Best Sandwich you’ve ever had? 1. Monte Cristo at Bywaters Bakery in Nola. Hands down the best Monte Cristo I’ve ever had. 2. Muffuletta from Blackwater Cafe. I’ve had these many times since moving here, and they do it right!!! 3. The Chicken Magnolia with sprouts at The Mag in St. Francisville. My friend Robin…

What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in? I’d love to eventually have a little Sourdough micro-bakery. Probably just a cart or a stationary roadside hub. Brick & Mortar would be a waste on something like Sourdough in my opinion, unless you were selling multiple things and have other workers. I’d keep…

Slow cooked BBQ Brisket

We picked up an 11 pound beef brisket and we baked it all day yesterday and it was amazing. The plan was to put it on the smoker but due to the rain and it needing cleaning , we decided to do it in the oven. We trimmed the fat to about a quarter inch…

My Amazon orders showed up today and I love my new cup! If you’ve been wanting to try the Cirkul, you should! I’m still using mine constantly. They’re out of this pretty green but here’s my second favorite in Pearl White. There are lots of other colors available as well 🙂

Pensacola Symphony

Norah Harper had the best time on her field trip today. My kids love the Symphony here. Gage has been 3 times and Harper has been twice with us, once to a Candlelight Coldplay concert for her birthday. Today they played at Olive Church and they did Star Wars theme. She LOVED it! She said…

🎶 The Playlist We Share

Norah Harper and I started a mutual playlist on Spotify a while back, and it’s turned into one of my favorite little bonding things. I love when I notice she’s dumped a bunch of new songs on it (and sometimes deleted half of them too 😂). It’s this quiet, creative way for her to share…

New Reads!

Gary bought The College Scam and then I read it. It changes the way I’ll look at my kids when it’s time to make these decisions. If they are not passionate about something that requires college, I hope they’ll find a source of happiness that doesn’t require a lifetime student debt and brainwashing. I’m not…

Weekends are my favorite 🤍

Settling in for the night already. Gary wants a “bed” night. That means we eat take out, watch a movie and don’t do anything else. It’s been a long week despite the kids being out Monday. It felt slow, which isn’t bad at all, but I’m ready to spend some time with my family for…

Slow Wednesday 🤍

Well, I overdid it and now I’m paying dearly for it. I tried to jump back into everything all at once now I’m having a pretty major flare up. I still don’t completely understand what my sciatica diagnosis means.. will it do this forever, or once every few years or just be a freak thing…

Beautiful flowers, Jennifer. I’m sorry about the flare-up. I have struggled with sciatica for years. Some days are definitely better than others. Right now my pain is pretty much constant. I’m just getting too old to be on my feet (on concrete floors) for eight hours a day. I find the stretches from motivational doc to be invaluable. When the pain starts to flare up at work I do some of the less conspicuous ones. It gets me through my shifts 🙂
-
Bless you. It’s so awful. I knoe that’s got to be so painful. I had it through my buttocks and hip when I was pregnant with both kids, but this started down my leg with my L5/L4 disc bulging. It worries me that I may be looking at back surgery. I couldn’t even walk to my bathroom without a cane or crutches for almost 6 weeks. I’m just trying to figure it all out and find a balance between staying active but also resting. I pray yours eases up and that you get some relief soon!!

Losing a Parent as a Child
Today was a pretty somber day in the Alcina house. My 12-year-old son, Gage, had a friend over Friday to spend the night. Thursday, his father suffered a very serious stroke. His mother wrote me Friday morning and let me know that he still wanted to come and spend the night if he could because…

Obsessed.

We are so in love with these blankets. I bought one for the bed and one for the sofa and now the kids want them for their rooms for Christmas. This is the Tye-Dye which I LOVE. It looks like real Fur. It washes good, it’s twin size and it’s sooooo cozy!! It’s one of…
