We just dropped off dinner tonight at Quan’s house in Pensacola. I wasn’t expecting to get out or any of that after what they’ve been through, but they were so appreciative that we brought them dinner. Her sister has set up a meal train so they’ll have people that will be bringing them meals for the next two weeks. She ended up walking out to the porch and wanted to hug my neck so I got out of the car. She had on her brave face and she told me a little about her loss. It turns out it was not her first one, but it was her first loss since being married to Quan. It actually happened five days ago, but he just called Gary yesterday so we were under the impression that it had just happened, so I really wasn’t even sure if she would be home.

We now have each other’s numbers, and I told her to call me anytime day or night. That’s really all that we can do. I was just really glad that Quan said it was a good idea for us to bring dinner because I think eating a good meal when you’re going through something like that can be such a big deal. It seems a little but it’s not. It’s comforting.

I really wasn’t sure if he’d even text back but his response was “Yes! That would be awesome. Thank you so much.” – and that’s another reason that you should just never assume that people don’t need anything and never hurts to ask.

I wrote her a sweet little card and had my number on it too, but I think it pretty much just reiterated everything we said.

My heart just hurts for them. But you can tell she has a very strong faith, and that WILL get her through.

It’s been a very busy day. I’m ready to relax a little bit.

We finished our school shopping and I cooked a lot of the day so I’m tired. 😴
