Today was genuinely what all of us needed.

It was so nice waking up next to my husband, knowing he would be home all day. We started the morning slow, enjoying breakfast in bed and talking for a while as the kids slept in. It was simple, but it felt wonderful to just lay there and talk.
Once everyone was awake, we headed to the pier so the kids could fish on the bay. By then, it was probably a little too late to catch much, or at least our chances had significantly decreased, but we couldn’t have gone any earlier because it had been raining. Afterward, we stopped at the little pub in town for lunch and then came back home.
Gary and I had just stretched out on the bed to catch our breath when, out of nowhere, I made some comment about going to the beach tomorrow and how I didn’t think it would work because of the rain. He looked at me and said, “Let’s go now.”
I honestly thought he was joking, so I said, “Yeah, let’s go.”
The next thing I knew, we were headed to Navarre.
We timed it perfectly and had a couple of beautiful hours before the next round of storms rolled in. A lot of people had already left because of the earlier weather, so the beach wasn’t crowded. It was just right.
Oh my goodness, how I love the white sand and that beautiful emerald-green water in Navarre. It is so different from Pensacola, even though they are so close together. The color of the water is truly one of a kind. In my opinion, it is prettier than Fort Walton or any of the surrounding beaches. It was absolutely beautiful today.
We had planned to stay until sunset, but another storm was moving in, and we could see it gathering in the distance. I had also made the mistake of barely eating all day, and I could tell my body needed something.
That is the one difficult thing about tirzepatide. When it is hot and we are busy, it is incredibly easy for me to forget to eat. I ordered lunch with everyone else, but I mostly picked around on it and only had a few bites. By the time we left the beach, I was feeling lightheaded and knew I needed to eat.
We stopped for Chinese food, and since I can’t really eat noodles or fried rice, I had peppered sirloin and sesame chicken over cabbage and broccoli. It hit the spot and was exactly what my body needed after a long day of sun and water.
We came home, got our showers and got comfortable and settled in for one of our favorite summer traditions because it is officially Big Brother season! For anyone new to my blog, we are enormous Big Brother fans. Every year around this time, we become heavily invested not only in the regular episodes but also in the live feeds available around the clock on Paramount+. We spend a ridiculous amount of our downtime watching, analyzing alliances, debating strategy, and getting entirely too emotionally invested in a game being played by people we have never met.
We love Big Brother, and for the next few months, it will undoubtedly become part of the regular conversation around here.
Tomorrow, if the weather cooperates, the boys are going fishing while Norah Harper and I clean up the pool and enjoy a little girls’ time together. 🤍
I hope y’all had a wonderful Sunday.
