I got way too much sun again yesterday, so I’m having an indoor day today. I’m still not sure how I got so much because I wasn’t even laying out this time. I pulled back some of the mulch in my beds, added fresh soil, and pulled weeds for a little while, but I got some serious sun. The tops of my thighs, the very bottom of my booty, and the backs of my shoulders are really burnt. 🥵 I guess it was from bending over and pulling weeds. 😂

I always wear a romper with a strapless top in the summer to do yard work. It doesn’t mess up my tan lines, and it’s cool and comfy. My mom used to wear the same thing when she’d tend our garden and flowerbeds. I’d always get excited when she put one on because I knew we were gonna be outside for a long time. She used to sew her own, and I remember one summer she made me a couple of them, but they wouldn’t stay up because I didn’t have anything to hold them up. 😂 So she added straps, and I loved being dressed like her. We both had matching burgundy and green rompers.

Sorry, that just came flooding back and unlocked a core memory! Hah.

Don’t you love it when that happens? I do. I come here to write about something really mundane, and then I’ll have a flashback and just keep writing about it. It ends up being something I haven’t thought about in 35 years. I think that’s why taking the time to blog, even if it’s just about your day, is important. You just never know what’s going to come out.

Anyway, I got my Sam’s order early this morning, so I put everything away and straightened up the house pretty quickly. It was mostly drinks and several boxes of chips and snack foods for the kids. I did get some sirloin burgers for the Fourth and everything I needed to make potato salad. So that was my excitement for the day. 😂 Now I’ve got Netflix going in the background, I keep wandering back and forth to my art desk, and I’m sitting here sharing with you guys.

Oh, and I did have lunch outside because I love sitting out there. I had the best tomato sandwich. We didn’t grow any tomatoes this year, but our neighbor gave us about a dozen, and they are delicious. 🤤

I should also mention that I’ve been enjoying doing art again. It’s so cathartic. Or maybe I’m just enjoying it because I’ve been in such good spirits lately. I love summer so much. I feel like I’m making up for not being able to enjoy it last year. Even when I go to bed late, I just can’t wait to get up, draw the curtains, and open the blinds.
