Well, we had a very nice morning! We drove down to the beach pretty early this morning, not early enough to catch the sunrise or anything, but we got there about 8:25. We spent a few hours and then packed up and headed back around 12.
That is my kind of beach day!! I am not about spending the whole day there. I was when we first moved here. I really thought that I could end up being one of those beach bums that literally spent all day out there but now we have three dogs to worry about and after a few hours, the kids start getting a little antsy to come home.
I’m also not a real big fan of packing food and taking it to the beach. If you ARE gonna be there all day it’s definitely easier than having to go to the car and drive somewhere and get lunch and come back, but it’s not ideal or fun to eat on the beach. It’s messy and it’s a lot of stuff to haul.
The sand here is not like a lot of the like the sand in Florida. You really work your legs out and it’s hard to roll anything bc the sand is so fine.
Pensacola has those big mats that they go way out (almost to the shore) for people to walk and carry their stuff on and that helps, but in Navarre we don’t have those.
Our beach cart that we used to use at the beach when we lived in the Tampa and even the Biloxi area won’t even roll on the sand here. It’s totally useless now. We ended up having to buy one that has the big plastic beach wheels. I don’t like it as much bc it’s SO big, but it’s better than nothing.
It was the perfect amount of time. Enough to get a little sun, enjoy the beauty and salt air, and then take off before it starts getting crowded.
Now that I can do all summer. Just so long as it’s not on weekends or holidays!!
