The kids have PM testing again this week, and Gary has to go in super early everyday, so everyone was in bed by 8:30 last night. It was so nice to get a really good night sleep. I put some new sheets on the bed, turned on the cool humidifier, and we were out!! I heard Gary’s alarm clock go off at 4, but I didn’t move. He made me my morning protein drink and kissed me goodbye around 5, but I fell back asleep and slept until 7:30. I feel so rested!!
After I got the kids on the bus, I figured out how to set up a digital dinner menu with Alexa on our echo show, for the remainder of May. It helped me come up with some pretty easy recipes and even set up a shopping list. I’ve never taken the time to use it for that, but I need some help coming up with some food ideas lately. I’m gonna try to stick to the menu. Evenings go so much easier when I have something planned.
It’s also really easy to go grab takeout or order DoorDash when we don’t have anything planned. It’s such a waste of money because whatever we make here always tastes so much better. I do a lot of premade and prepackaged protein meals for myself lately, but I still have to come up with something for everybody else to eat.
Tonight we’re having pancakes, eggs and sausage, and I have some protein pancakes in the freezer for myself. I tried to do some relatively have healthy meals for them as well, so I will be able to eat with them some nights. If I have enough pancakes in the freezer, they can eat protein ones too. I don’t think they’d even know the difference. I sure can’t tell.
It looks like we’ve got some really big storms moving in today. I was watching the national news this morning and they were talking about all the tornadoes and a swept through are kind of scary. Mississippi got hit hard.
We don’t really get that much weather like that here. We’re so close to the ocean that storms will blow up really quickly, but they also dissipate quickly. We can have a horrible weather forecast and have tons of rain predicted and never get a drop.
I think what it boils down to is that it’s just really hard to predict what’s gonna happen with weather when you’re this close to the ocean. There are too many variables. It was like that when we lived in Seminole as well. It’s always subject to change once it hits that salt air.
Coastal meteorology is much more complicated than inland meteorology, so I’ve learned not to pay too much attention to what the weather forecast says.
They were right about today though.. it’s dreary and storming all around us. I’ve been hearing it thunder since early this morning, but we haven’t gotten a drop of rain yet. We’ll probably get some at some point. I hope so cause I just planted a lot of new things and they need watering!
I’ve got plenty of busy work to do today to keep me entertained, so bring on the rain 🙂 I love it!
