I absolutely love this time of year. Whether it’s shining or raining. It doesn’t even matter. When I see the rain, I know that all my plants and my new little garden is being tended to, and when the sun is shining, it’s so nice to go outside and get a little warmth from the sun on your skin. I feel like spring and summer are the happiest months.

I know, I know… I always say that Christmas is my favorite time of year, and it is, because it’s nostalgic and cozy, but summer is joyful. I guess I love most seasons. That little bit time after Christmas until spring arrives is my least favorite time of year. It’s a little depressing for me. The days seem so long, and I think it takes a little bit to recover from all the Christmas hustle and bustle.

Anyway, it’s a beautiful day!! Gary and I walked to the boat ramp and back, and we saw 2 good sized alligators getting their suntan on 🙂 I should be doing the same thing, but I decided to clean out my kids closets today and strip their beds. 🫠🙄

Norah Harper’s bedroom looked clean when I walked in, but when I pull off her comforter, I noticed that the way she’s been cleaning her room, has been to stuff things underneath her bed. 🙄 I was pretty mad to be honest. But then I recall doing the exact same thing many times as a child, except I put everything in my closet. Hah. When she gets home, she’s got a lot of stuff to pick up.. that’s for sure. She really thought she’d figured something out. 😂😂😂

Gage’s room was pretty bad too and he’s usually a really neat child. I just haven’t been keeping up with it and they’ve been taking advantage of that. They’re gonna be clean today that’s for sure.

I have an app on my phone that shuts the Internet down in both of their rooms, and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do until they’re back like they’re supposed to be.

My follow-through is not usually the best because I more often than not end up just doing it myself, but Gary was here to talk me down. He took the broom away from me and told me to make them do it.

He’s right. Sometimes it feels like it’s so much easier to do it ourselves because we don’t want the argument and I know that nobody in this house cleans like I do. But nobody learns a lesson when I keep doing that.

My mother did a lot for me as a child, and admittedly, I wasn’t very good at doing things for myself for a very long time. I think she felt like she had to do that because she was a stay at home mom for several years.

But even when she went back to work and taught second grade, she still did way too much for me. That didn’t do me any favors. She did it out of love, and she also did it because she liked a really clean house. I feel exactly the same way.

I never mind helping my kids, but that’s what it should be at this point and at their age.. it should be help. I’ll help you make your bed, I’ll help you fold your clothes, but I won’t do it completely for you.

It’s just one of those things we all have to learn to do, because life is a lot easier when you’re clean and organized.

I heard that so much as a child. We really do become our mothers! 🩷

Oh the memories! No one cleaned like my mom. Many times she cleaned our rooms herself, but sometimes, when she finally had enough of our slobbish ways, we were sent to our rooms and told not to come out until they were clean. We would always ask… Kid clean, or do they have to be Mom clean? lol
