I am so over school this year. I have never been more ready for my kids to be out for summer break. Norah Harper has had the craziest year. They have lost so many teachers. 😢

You honestly can’t blame them. They’re grossly underpaid for what they do. We’ve taken away their rights to have any control in their classrooms. They can’t raise their voices. They can’t reprimand and have to baby these kids and then we wonder why they act like spoiled brats.

It’s just been a lot. Every day she comes home with new drama. I’ve been very blessed that I’ve never had any behavioral issues at either one of my kids, but it doesn’t mean they’re not affected when they’re in chaos.

I mean, serious chaos. They’ve had a couple of subs completely walk out because they could not get control of her classroom. It stresses her out so bad. They have a few kids that probably don’t even need to be in a regular classroom, and it has ruined it for all of them this year. They have one boy that gets extremely aggressive, a little girl but obviously has some pretty serious psychological problems, and a few boys that are just totally out of control. There was one little boy that was even being touchy feely with the girls. We just never had these kind of issues before.

Gage is actually doing really well this year, so I guess it’s mainly Harper that I’m talking about. But it’s made me want to get past this year so quickly. That kinda makes me sad. I really thought fifth grade was gonna be awesome for her.

I haven’t been involved at all. I haven’t done a very good job of communicating this year, but it seems like there’s been so many issues that I haven’t really wanted to stress her teacher out by adding to her list of things to deal with, so we’ve just tried to figure things out on our own. She’s definitely not on honor roll this year either.

She has had so many substitute teachers it’s hard to keep up with. That kind of inconsistency really affects the kids. We went from the beginning of the school year, being very structured, knowing exactly what night she would have homework, etc. to not having any idea what’s going on. But I almost don’t even care. I’m just ready to get her on to the middle school!!

Gage loves middle school. He’s made so many new friends and I can tell he just really enjoys the changing classes and it not being so repetitive. He really likes his teachers this year too. I think Norah will feel the same way once she gets over there.

It’s really sad when you can’t find teachers because kids are so wild and parents are just plain awful. We have got to start respecting teachers more, and start taking stress off of him instead of piling it on. The respect thing starts at home.

I’m not a perfect parent, but I tell you what if one of my kids ever talk back to their teacher or cause disruptive or trouble in the classroom, there will be some serious consequences. I don’t play that crap here at the house, and I would not allow them to do that elsewhere either. These parents that act like their kids don’t do anything wrong is the biggest problem.

I think all the teachers are actually going to strike next week because they didn’t receive their raises as promised. I saw something that was posted that showed where the superintendent of Santa Rosa got like $1000 raise per month, but the teachers got nothing. Wild. I’m friends with a few of my kids former teachers and they all say she is the worst thing that’s ever happened to Santa Rosa schools.

I’m just ready to be done with this year, if next year is this bad we’ll just have make some decisions. We may have to revisit where we’ve been looking at houses.
