Well, the verdict is in.

I love it.

I have to admit that I had never heard of this product. One of Gary’s coworkers mentioned it to him because his wife has been making sourdough for many years. When I opened it, I was quite perplexed because he had just purchased me a Ninja Impossible 13 in 1 cooker that had a built-in bread proofer. I didn’t realize he was not aware that it had a proofing option.

So in all honesty, I wasn’t sure if I would even keep it, especially when I saw the price online. But… it took me using it to really get it.

This is not just a proofer. This is simplifying sourdough. You actually mix and make your dough directly inside of the perfectly sized glass bowl that has been shaped to perfection for making sourdough. When you finish your stretch please and folds, you just simply place the lid on and allow it to start proofing. I really like that. I don’t like doing bread in my mixer. I’d rather do it by hand and save my mixer for discard recipes.

So there’s no messy mixing bowls to clean up or anything and the dough just rolls out like a dream after proofing!

The warming base can also be used for your sourdough starter. Just sit your jar directly on the base and let it double in half the time.

It’s just designed so well. The cork lid is very easy to clean by hand and the glass bowl can easily be slipped into the dishwasher, but the dough comes out so clean. It really just needs a quick rinse in the sink. I’m completely impressed.

Out of curiosity, I did turn on the electric proofer in my Ninja with a loaf of sour dough. It did double quite quickly, but it would be very easy to over proof, and it was much harder to clean in my opinion.

So yes, I will be keeping it and I can understand now why this is priced as it is. It really makes sense as it was very well thought out in design.
