Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

Hands down, when we painted our floors in our Tampa Bay house. My back hurt for weeks. It was really awesome though. That house is up for sale again (twice since we sold it) and they removed them and put down wood, but I sure liked them. That was a pretty house, but man it was so far out from everything and had no real yard.

I sure put a ton of work into it though. I think I repainted every single inch of that house.

  1. That’s beautiful! About ten years ago I bought a fixer upper. The living room carpeting was gross, so I pulled it up, determined I would walk on plywood if need be until I could afford new flooring. I discovered a lovely hardwood floor! I redid it myself, sanding every inch with sand paper! A huge job, but so worth it!

    • That’s a job!!! I bet they’re so much prettier than anything you could have purchased too! I love old houses so much. We bought that house in Tampa when the buyers market was so good and I couldn’t believe how little we paid for it. We redid pretty much everything cosmetic and sold it the following year for twice what we bought it for when the market went up and it was perfect timing because brother passed RIGHT after (literally as we were moving) and we inherited his house, and it needed SO much work before we could put it on the market. We had to completely gut his bathrooms bc of roots and we redid all the floors. It was SO much work. That went on for almost a year. We finally sold his home and then we moved into this house.

God was really looking out for us, bc we otherwise could have never done that. There is no doubt!!! We learned a lot during all of that, and I have so much respect for people who do major renovations themselves. Whew!!

      • God’s timing is always perfect! The floor did turn out pretty well considering I had no idea what I was doing. I loved my little cottage but unfortunately the “fixing” got to be a little more than I could keep up with and I sold it. I still miss it 🙂
