Go Crazy 🤣 Wheat vs. Sourdough

Those of you who are in my Florida Sourdough group, this hopefully helps clear up that crazy argument. 🤣 I didn’t comment but I deleted the thread when she got belligerent and I booted her. 🤣 Y’all went off though.

Anyway, this is similar to what was trying to be conveyed.

“Sourdough bread has similar nutrients to whole wheat bread, but it’s more digestible and nutritious because it has lower phytate levels. The fermentation process can also make some vitamins and minerals more available for the body to absorb. Whole grains are a good source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that can help control cholesterol, weight, and blood pressure.”

I didn’t comment on the thread, but here’s my opinion, as if it even matters.. 🤣 If you’re gaining weight from Sourdough, then you’re probably using butter or other fattening spreads on it. That or you don’t normally eat bread and you’ve added a significant amount of sourdough to your diet.

My weight fluctuates like crazy and I’m going through perimenopause, so I can’t really gauge. I don’t stress over my carb intake so by all means be your own judge. But given nutritional info, it shouldn’t cause you to gain weight unless you’re overeating it or fattening it up. If you’re going to use butter, use unsalted grass fed organic butters… they metabolize differently. I’ve lost 8 lbs in the last few weeks and I have a slice almost everyday, but I use olive/avocado oils.

Let’s be honest, most of us enjoy the process because it’s artful. Artisan breads are challenging and it’s fun. It’s just like when women cook a real dinner from scratch… we usually don’t even want to eat it once we’re finally done. We’re over it by then.

The perk of eating it is for our spouses and families. She just wanted something to blame for her weight gain. Enjoy y’alls sourdough and your baking. Hah!
