Morning Bake :)
I had an itch to paint this morning but it was too cold to venture into the garage. I had a boule of sourdough in my fridge that needed to be baked, so I pulled out my culinary paints. So fun! It’s hard to paint on a floured surface, but I was able to move…

Cinnamon, Cranberry, Walnut and Candied Pecan Sourdough
I decided to do a 17 hr fast since we ate out last night. It was worth it, but I had a very small sliver of this for my first food before everyone devoured it. It is SO yummy!! Gage said this is his new favorite. 🤍

Sourdough Dinner Rolls!
Hey friends! I won’t fill this with excessive rambling, because we all just wanna jump to the recipe! Just use common sense when baking and pivot when needed. Everyone’s starter is a little different and our kitchen climates play a big role in proofing. If you don’t have a fed starter, discard will do the…

Just a little Winter Reminder!
My cute husband came in the living room and said “None of your starters have doubled at all, and I fed them at 10 am!” Hah! I think he’s gotten into the sourdough thing as much as I have. Anyway, it’s cold y’all. I keep our house at 71 degrees all year round, BUT my…

Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls
Norah Harper has been begging me to make cinnamon rolls and I have so much starter right now, so I did! They did not disappoint! I used a Farmhouse on Boone recipe and as always it’s delicious! I love it because it has far less sugar than most recipes. You use more honey. I didn’t…

Aww that’s amazing! I’ve always been a good cook, but I don’t bake a lot. Sourdough has really made me love baking. I didn’t think the cinnamon rolls really had a sourdough taste, because they didn’t ferment or anything, BUT they were really good! It’s a good way to use my starter in between baking bread.

Pizza Sourdough
Requested by my husband last night. 🤍 This one is a kids favorite too. This is what they all had for lunch today. I like it, but I prefer lots of olives and feta to the pepperoni, but I might have a small slice myself for dinner with a big salad. This is just my…

Charcoal Dusted Boulé
Thought I would share another one of my Black Boulès. I love using this as an aesthetic scoring method, but let me say this- While Activated Charcoal does have a lot of great benefits in consumption, it is also very high in absorption. So please do not put charcoal INSIDE of your bread without speaking…

Whoa, Bl🖤ck Betty
My first time using Coconut Charcoal on my Sourdough. It gave it a nice smokey flavor. We had it for breakfast and we both really liked it. 🖤

Cold Days and Sourdough
I always use bottled water when I mix my sourdough, but the water is freezing from sitting on our stone tile floors in the pantry. You never want to use really cold water because Yeast loves warmth. So instead of using warm tap water (which has far more bacteria than your cold water line) just…

Lame Hack
Just thought I would share. This is how I cut my razor on my UFO lame for detailing. You’ll find that point helps on a lot of shapes and dot work. Hope this helps someone! I have like 20 different lames but these are my two favorites! 🤍 My boule turned out quite lovely!

Oh my!
Look at this gorgeous bread. I tried my Brandani Dutch oven just to see what it would produce and I’m so impressed! It’s THE biggest boule I’ve ever made. Not the prettiest, but the biggest by far! I wish I had a normal boule to compare it side by side. I didn’t change the measurements…

Sourdough 🦠
Here’s a post from one of my Sourdough Groups and it’s really good information. Posted by Savannah Petersen: I had this memory pop up from my job last year where I worked in a lab as a Bacteriologist/ Mycologist. Does that middle photo look familiar to y’all?? This is why when I see you guys…

Life is Gourd! 🤍
This is hands down the best variation of sourdough I have ever made/eaten. For those who missed my post about it, it’s just a basic sourdough recipe with the water subbed out with pumpkin puree’ and 50 extra grams of starter. It’s so soft and delicious! Go try it!!! Give em’ Pumpkin to talk about!

Pumpkin Sourdough
Last but not yeast. 😙 Ok friends, just use your regular sourdough recipe but replace the water with pumpkin puree! I also added an extra 50 grams of sourdough starter. It’s delicious!!!

Pumpkin Sourdough
I decided to try something new. I replaced the 700 grams of water with Pumpkin Puree. I added an additional 50 grams of sourdough starter as well. The dough feels different, but the stretch and folds were easy. I’ll report back when they’re baked! 🤍🤍🤍

Dehydration Station 😜
I finally got the 6 quart AF with the dehydrator setting! They never EVER have it in stock at out Walmart in white icing, but they did yesterday! I sell my sourdough starter at a little consignment shop and the local hardware store here, so I have to dehydrate weekly. This frees up my oven,…

Buttermilk Sourdough
I decided to replace my water in my sourdough with Buttermilk and it did not disappoint. The fat and butter made it so soft. What a beautiful result. I did some research to make sure it was safe to let the buttermilk sit out for 5 hours during bulk fermentation. It suggested it could be…

Hello Monday!
It’s going to be a fast and furious week for us. We’ve got lots of stuff happening this week. Gary’s Mom is getting married Friday and we have quite a bit planned this weekend for Norah Harper’s birthday. Today, I’m enjoying my clean house and celebrating having no dirty laundry (yet) by relaxing, listening to…

Fall Scoring 🍂
Played around with some scoring ideas this weekend. Aren’t they cute? I’m still not getting as deep of a score as I’d like, so I think I’m going to try the 6 minute method on my next batch. You don’t score until the bread has baked for 6 minutes. This gives you a more firm…

Sourdough Oopsies
I have THE sweetest lady that is trying to get into sourdough and she has bought 4 of my starters from my booth and I’ve been flabbergasted and perplexed as to why she can’t get it going.. and I put a LOT of starter in my bags. I can grow a liter or 2 in…

Long Fermentation
I know the longer sourdough goes through a cold retard the more gut benefits it has, but I always get sick of waiting and same day bake or at least within 3 days. This loaf has been in my outdoor fridge for 7 days now. I’m going to fill a few bannetons this weekend and…

It was a Monday!
I’m super late posting this, but I finished a closed loaf of sourdough in my Pullman pan today! YAY!! It’s amazing! I used my normal sourdough sandwich bread recipe and it did just fine. It’s the perfect sandwich/toast size. I had avocado toast for dinner. ☺️ I’ll probably sell these for 10$ pre sliced. I…

Yay!
I got my Pullman pan in. I decided on the small one for now. It makes about a 1600- 2000 gram loaf. I didn’t do a closed loaf because I wanted a round top, but I will try it tomorrow or the next day! It wouldn’t have filled up anyway. I needed more dough! I’ll…

Higher Heat Bakes
I tried a higher heat to get a faster bake today. The boule on the right is smoked Cheddar and it’s seasoned thoroughly with Dan O’s Cheesoning. I preheated my oven to 500, and baked covered for 25 minutes and 15 minutes uncovered. Internal temp was 210. I cold baked the vessel. I don’t like…

Flour Power
Great Value (Walmart) Vs. King Arthur. Today I’m baking 5 loaves of sourdough for my neighbor’s sister’s bridal shower brunch. They’ve been cold fermenting in my outdoor fridge since Tuesday. I’m nervous about it because I could only find Great Value and White Lily bread flour. I went with GV. I never use anything but…

I Love It
Today I’m making a basic boule and prepping to make a Muffuletta Loaf. I have missed doing this! I think once you really get into sourdough it’s kind of hard to quit, because even if you just have a few people that purchase it, you know how much they look forward to it. I also…

Quick Sourdough!
My fellow sourdough bakers, I made this Sourdough using a quick method and it came out really good!! 🤍 No stretch and folds, and no cold retard. Worked perfectly!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Your oven light is a wonderful proofing tool and your mixer CAN work instead of S&F’s. Note that it doesn’t have the strong sour taste…

Sourdough|Discard Pizza
Ok friends, I don’t have an exact recipe for this pizza crust but it seriously cannot be any easier. This makes 3 medium sized pizzas. We made 2 mediums and 2 tiny ones. Pop your cast iron pans (greased with olive oil) into the oven at 450 to preheat. While it’s preheating take your sourdough…

Small Sourdough Boule
So, this is the size I have been making for us recently and we just prefer it. It doesn’t make such large sandwich slices and I’d rather bake more often so it’s fresh. I tried to just half the ingredients of my normal loaves but then it was just a little too small for making…

Cleaning Sourdough Jars
Such a pain, right? Well, here’s a few things I have learned. Use COLD Water. I have no idea why, but it works so much better. Switch into clean jars once a week. It’s almost impossible to do daily, and what’s the point really? If you can, put a screen on your sink and just…

Simple Focaccia 🤍

Quick Rise Sourdough Sandwich Bread
This recipe makes 2 loaves. You’ll be using both leaven and Yeast. If you do not have sourdough starter, you can still use this recipe but omit the autoalyse process. Le Creuset All the Way
Okay, I can’t speak for everyone, but there’s an incredible difference in my bread using this bread oven. The texture is better. It’s softer and has a crispy but far less dense crust, and the bottom is lightly toasted (not near as dark and thick) so it’s easier to cut through. I just love it!!…
