Today was wonderful. Gary surprised me by taking off work. I woke up to beautiful hydrangeas and roses.

Tomorrow we are doing something kind of special. A few years ago we got new wedding rings but we haven’t been very happy with them. I’ve had to have 2 small diamonds replaced and it catches on everything. It’s so bulky on my hand. Gary always says we need to get me a ring that I’ll actually wear, so for our Anniversary we have decided to go pick out new rings and possibly have some of my Mother and Grandmother’s yellow gold melted down to make them.
We’ve decide to do a lab grown diamond for my setting bc they are are far more practical, but still beautiful. I’ll decide on a cut tomorrow when we try some rings on. I’m excited! I always think it’s crazy how people put themselves in debt over wedding rings, because you can always upgrade them down the road. This will be our 3rd set and it’ll be my first stand alone solitaire, 13 years later.
I wouldn’t have it any other way! It means way more now than it would have back then. I understand the sentiment and the value more now than I did back then. And it will mean even more to me if it has some of my mother’s jewelry melted into it.
I don’t want anything overly large or dramatic. I’m a size 5 so I’d like a smaller solitaire that doesn’t overwhelm my hands bc I’m always in the kitchen or yard. I think we’re going to keep our current rings and maybe use it for something for Norah for her 16th birthday. Her hands are already larger than mine! She wears a 7, but maybe we could turn it into a pendant or have it resized. Maybe even add her birthstone- sapphire!
Anyway, We’re off to go grab some dinner, I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. ♥️
