Kids are so unintentionally hilarious. Today Norah told me not to post a car selfie because, in her words, “only old desperate women do that.” She said it’s thirsty. And needy. I didn’t even get a chance to defend myself before the verdict was in.
She went on to explain that people her age don’t really do posed, filtered photos anymore. Apparently now they “face reveal” privately on Discord. I told her kids her age are on TikTok all day anyway, and she said that’s different because it’s video. Video is fine. Posed photos are just… ick.
She did graciously allow that changing my Facebook profile picture is acceptable, because Facebook is where people actually look like themselves, while Instagram is where people post what they wish they looked like. I mean. That one stung a little. But she’s probably not wrong.
I guess it’s a good thing kids aren’t as focused on appearances the way we were. Still, the bluntness of it all cracked me up. It also made me think about that WordPress prompt a few days ago that asked who influences us the most. I should’ve answered honestly, Norah Harper.

One response to “Selfies are for Boomers? 🤷🏼♀️😂”
She was telling me this a few weeks ago when I was talking about online safety. 😂
