Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

The biggest was quitting smoking and drinking alcohol, but quitting drinking caffeine and energy drinks was a big one too. I don’t miss soda, but I do miss coffee sometimes, because I enjoyed the process of it and sitting on the porch enjoying every sip while I slowly woke up and got my thoughts together for the day. Thankfully there are great coffee substitutes that give me that same pleasure, but I have changed my routine and don’t require it daily.

I always thought caffeine made me more focused but I’m far more focused and energized now, and I sleep better. Even the smallest amounts give me heart palpitations. Someone said to me “you’ve given up so many things that you loved. Isn’t that hard??”

It is at first, because we think those things are bringing us joy. They aren’t. Think of all the people who never drink or have never smoked before. We shouldn’t really let that kind of stuff become our source of joy to begin with.

Happiness and joy should be cultivated. I find happiness in very simple things now. Alcohol numbed my emotions for years, so I lost my ability to feel things. I feel very alive again and I’m so grateful. 🤍

🙂 That’s my answer- Thanks for listening.
