My cute husband came in the living room and said “None of your starters have doubled at all, and I fed them at 10 am!”
Hah! I think he’s gotten into the sourdough thing as much as I have.
Anyway, it’s cold y’all. I keep our house at 71 degrees all year round, BUT my countertops and floors are COLD. Even the water he used to feed them this morning was probably a few degrees colder. Just be patient.
If you need it to rise faster, you can put them on a heating pad on 100 degrees, a seedling mat, wrap them in towels, or put them in your oven with the light on, but make sure you don’t accidentally bake it. Stick a post it note on it as a reminder.
I don’t ever put my starter or dough directly in my countertops in the winter. It will take forever to proof if you do. 🤍
