What was your favorite subject in school?
Hmmm… I can’t really choose just one.. I guess History or Geography. I think it varied year to year depending on the teacher sometimes. I think the funnest class I ever had was Spanish. I can’t say that I can speak much more than a few words and introductions, but we had a blast in that class.
I also had 3 years of Gifted in Junior High that I loved because I had the MOST amazing teacher and we did such creative stuff. I hated Gifted in Elementary however. It was constant Brain Storming puzzles and very little creative arts. That just grew very tiring and I also have ADHD (Which no one believed you could have and also be gifted in the 80’s), but I really believe the teacher you have makes all the difference in the WORLD when it comes to education. It’s one reason I love and support teachers so much.. they can really change a child’s life.
I didn’t finish out HS because my Mom and I kind of escaped a bad situation. We basically “ran away”’from my Dad when I was 16 almost 17. It was a pretty terrifying thing, because he was not mentally well, and a violent alcoholic at times. So, I didn’t get to finish school with my friends. Our school was K-12 so I’d never been anywhere new. I ended up finishing with Correspondence courses later and never attended college. I had to get a job immediately when we moved and help my Mom survive and school wasn’t in any way a thought or priority. It was survival for a few years. My brother on the other hand, got a Masters in Speech Pathology and was a licensed SLP and also ASL. Both of my parents went to college, so I was the black sheep I guess. 🤷🏼♀️
I have NO regrets though.. I wouldn’t change anything. I’m so glad I have no college debt. and my husband doesn’t either. That can really be a strain on people. College isn’t for everyone.
So anyway.. I still enjoy history and geography and both of my kids do too 🙂 It’s my favorite thing to help them with in terms of homework. My husband does the mathin’ around here. 🤣🙅🏼♀️
