Dark colored Hooch?

Keep or Toss?

You’ll get a million different responses to this, but I’m gonna say no. I’ve yet to have a starter go bad, BUT.. I recently tried stirring that thick hooch back into one of my mini starter jars (it was stored in the fridge for 3 weeks) and it took me 4 days of persistent feeds to get the strong acetone smell out of it, and for it to begin to double again. You could tell by its reaction it was still hungry. Anyway, most of you are in this popular group on FB (The Beginner Group) and Terri Pepper gave a great response to someone yesterday that wasn’t sure how to proceed:

I highly suggest discarding it if it’s turned really dark in color, as it serves no real benefit. You’re just making it harder on yourself.
